‘The Prospector’ Bus Has Historic Year, Serves 4,200+ Riders

Jan. 10, 2020 - Clear Creek County Communications, Colo. – Clear Creek County’s Prospector Bus had a tremendous 2019, serving 4,224 riders (not including 900 riders for special events)!  That beat out the previous year (2018) of 2,986 riders—a more than 40% increase!

"By offering better and longer service to Clear Creek residents and visitors, we were confident we’d see solid growth,” said John Bryan, Clear Creek County Communications.  “Our goal was to give people better options for getting to work, going to the clinic, or shopping for groceries—all at a very affordable price,” he added.   Fares run $1 (in-town), $2 (town-town), and a 50% discount for seniors, students and children.  Books of ‘10’ tickets can be purchased from drivers for $10---one ticket is good for any length of a one-way trip, saving riders money.

“As we head into 2020, I want to thank the businesses who’ve supported the Prospector, the loyal riders and our great drivers,” Bryan added. “And, I’m excited to announce a second bus, “Prospector, Too” coming to the County in the next few months.  We’re working with our Local Coordinating Council (Transit) to look at things such as connecting to RTD (El Rancho Evergreen), more shopping opportunities, and longer hours each day to allow people to get to where they need.”

The Prospector runs Monday – Friday (no weekends), and is equipped with a hydraulic lift for special needs and two wheelchair accessible spots.
