Clear Creek EMS is the primary Advanced Life Support (ALS) provider within Clear Creek County, responding to nearly 2,000 calls for service each year. Much of the 350 square miles which makes up Clear Creek County is rugged, mountainous backcountry and wilderness areas,
including four peaks over 14,000 feet in elevation. After several years of development with Alpine Rescue Team (ART) and the Clear Creek County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), along with assistance from neighboring teams in Summit, Grand, and Eagle counties, CCEMS launched the SAR-P program in June of 2024.
Alpine Rescue Team (ART) is the local volunteer group responsible for all search and rescue operations within Clear Creek County under the jurisdiction of the Clear Creek County Sheriff’s Office. The SAR-P team is comprised of seven full-time Critical Care Paramedics who not only specialize in advanced pre-hospital emergency medicine, but also have additional experience in wilderness medicine and backcountry rescue. While ART is responsible for the technical aspects of a backcountry rescue, SAR-P allows for ART and CCEMS to provide more advanced care to those hardest to reach.
