    Charlie's Place, the Clear Creek / Gilpin County Animal Shelter, serves the residents of Clear Creek and Gilpin Counties. The shelter provides nourishment and a safe environment for abandoned, homeless, stray, and impounded dogs and cats.

    The county archives include county, school, and mining district records from 1859 to the present. Located in the basement of the courthouse, these materials are available to residents, researchers, and anyone else interested in a wide variety of topics related to the county.

  4. Assessor

    The Assessor's Office is responsible for the evaluation and assessment of all taxable real and personal property within the county. Their duties include the discovery, valuation, and listing of all property classifications.

    The services provided by the Building Department are aimed at protecting the public's safety by regulating the design, construction, materials, use and occupancy, and maintenance of buildings and structures within the unincorporated areas of Clear Creek County.

    The Office of the Clerk and Recorder is responsible for conducting primary, general, and special elections held in the county; voter registration, recording, and processing public documents; issuing and recording marriage licenses; and titling and registering of motor vehicles.

    The Community Development Division includes the permitting departments of Building, Planning, and Site Development (County Engineer) as well as the departments and programs of Special Projects, County Lands, Water Resources, Housing, Colorado State University (CSU) Extension, and the Open Space Commission. Each of these departments play specific rolls in the development of land, protection of natural resources, and community enhancement for the County. The Division also works very closely with other various County departments including Environmental Health, Mapping, and Public Works.
