Clerk & Recorder

The Office of the Clerk and Recorder is responsible for conducting primary, general, and special elections held in the county; voter registration; recording and processing public documents; issuing and recording marriage licenses; and titling and registering of motor vehicles.

Motor Vehicle Information

Motor Vehicle titles will not be processed after 3:30 pm.  Please plan accordingly.

Why not "Skip the Trip!" There are over 34 online services, from renewing your registration to changing your address, and more. Visit the Colorado Department of Revenue website.

  • All NEW motor vehicle transactions require identification, proof of insurance and proof of residency in the county
  • Credit/debit cards are accepted with a service fee of $0.25 + 2.25% (Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover)

*Self-service DMV Kiosks are available throughout the state for renewals, tab replacements, duplicate registrations, etc.  Find a kiosk near you!

Clear Creek County does not issue/renew Driver's License/IDs. You may find a location near you at https://dmv.colorado.gov/drivers

Recording Information

Recordings must be completed by 3 pm, or will be done the following day. The flat fee for recording most documents is $43.00.

Election Information

Notice 2/23/2026 – The Clerk & Recorder is accepting comments from the public regarding the location of our VSPC (Voter Service and Polling Center) for the 2026 General Election on November 3, 2026.  

The VSPC remains the same as it’s been in the past at 405 Argentine St, Georgetown, CO.

The 24-hour ballot drop-off locations are:

  • Clear Creek County Courthouse (outside main entrance), 405 Argentine St, Georgetown
  • CommonSpirit Primary Care Idaho Springs, 1969 Miner St, Idaho Springs
  • Clear Creek High School, 185 Beaver Brook Canyon Rd, Evergreen
